Joint Commission

Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval

The Joint Commission, (formerly referred to as JCAHO) the nation's leading health care standards-setting and accrediting organization, accredits hospitals, home health agencies, hospices as well as nursing homes and other health care organizations. Specially trained investigators assess whether these organizations meet set standards.

The Joint Commission's philosophy is that accreditation is an investment that helps you safeguard your company and most importantly, your patients.

For smaller companies, accreditation can be the "play book" to run an efficient, patient-centered organization. For larger companies, accreditation can help standardize processes that save your company money and ensure more consistent delivery of care.

"Being accredited by The Joint Commission is a key motivator and a differentiator for our entire organization as we continue to strive to be the "best of class" in the health care industry."-Don Stelly of Joint Commission

During an accreditation survey, The Joint Commission evaluates an organization's performance of functions and processes aimed at continuously improving patient outcomes. This assessment is accomplished through evaluating an organization's compliance with the applicable standards in the manual, based on the following:

  • Tracing the care delivered to patients
  • Verbal and written information provided to The Joint Commission
  • On-site observations and interviews by Joint Commission surveyors
  • Documents provided by the organization

AVEN HOME HEALTH SERVICES IS JOINT COMMISSION ACCREDITED

Aven Home Health Services is a proud recipient of the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission for Home Health Services. Aven Home Health Services earned this distinction after the Joint Commission conducted an on-site review of the home health program in June, 2010. The program was evaluated against The Joint Commission's standards through an assessment of the program's processes, the program's ability to evaluate and improve care within its organization and interviews with patients and staff.

This recognition demonstrates that Aven Home Health Services follows strict guidelines and standards developed by The Joint Commission to effectively manage and meet the unique and specialized needs of home health patients. Aven Home Health Services' thorough plan of treatment for these patients includes a continuum of care beginning with education, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation to improve patient recovery.

Following these guidelines enables Aven Home Health Services to improve the quality of care it provides patients, reduce reoccurrences and most importantly, save lives. This designation demonstrates our commitment to providing a higher standard of care for patients in our community. We are improving outcomes.

Accreditation strengthens community confidence in the quality and safety of care, treatment and services, provides a competitive edge in the marketplace, and improves risk management and risk reduction, while providing education on good practices to improve business operations.
